The Best Restaurants in The Strip District

Not far from Cranberry Woods apartments is a vibrant destination featuring international grocery stores, boutique shops, and some of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh.

It's called the Strip District, and in the early days, this neighborhood was full of foundries and mills.

Restaurant and bar highlights include:

S&D POLISH DELI

Since 2008, S&D has offered high-quality Polish meats and other products. It's been voted the best Polish deli in Pittsburgh and is recognized for serving the tastiest pierogies in town. The selection also includes fine noodles, sheep milk cheese, and poppy seed rolls.

In the kitchen, the chefs prepare meals using their time-honored family recipes. They serve lunch daily, and the menu features stuffed cabbage, potato pancakes, and Polish-style kielbasi.

PEPPI'S OLD TYME SANDWICH SHOP

Step into Peppi's to enjoy the best sandwiches in Pittsburgh. Before opening the shop, Jim Trebac visited the sub joints between Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore. Along the way, he discovered the secret was in the bread. Today, Peppi's is a local favorite. The sandwiches are made from the finest, freshest ingredients, and there's something for everyone. Choices include The Big Wheeler, Big Nate, and The Butcher.

THE BEERHIVE

The Beerhive is a one-stop destination for great good and quality beer. It specializes in both imported and craft varieties and features 12 taps and over 100 different bottles. The bar is owned by three brothers, and they offer an atmosphere where strangers become friends. Wednesday nights bring open mic comedy, while Thursdays offer a lively round of trivia. Meals include cheddar bacon sandwiches, crispy fish tacos, and Blind Pig sandwiches. They pair well with a pint of Overtime Irish Ale.
