BAIERL ICE COMPLEX

When Baierl Ice Complex opened in 1992, it became the first twin ice facility in the Pittsburgh region. The complex offers public skating sessions most days of the week for a fun way to spend time with family and friends. Adults who would like to improve their skating skills can enroll in classes. Lessons include 30 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of practice time.

Baierl also offers pick-up hockey Monday through Friday. It's for those over 18, and participants must wear full gear.

UPMC LEMIEUX SPORTS COMPLEX

The first facility of its type in the Pittsburgh region, the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex treats, trains, and inspires athletes at every level. It's the primary practice facility for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Skaters can join open sessions at various times throughout the week, including Coffee Club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. This event is set to soft music and offers skating in a calm atmosphere. Participants enjoy a complimentary coffee, tea, or hot chocolate from the cafe.

Adults can also participate in the Learn to Skate hockey program. The classes focus on the basics, and players progress to join the Penguins' adult league.

ICE CASTLE ARENA

Ice Castle Arena is a state-of-the-art facility that offers year-round fun. It features two NHL-sized rinks and comes complete with bright lighting and a clear sound system. The arena frequently hosts open skate sessions. Friday-night sessions start at 7:00 PM, and admission includes skate rentals.

Hockey players can join a league or sharpen their skills during pick-up sessions. Players must wear full equipment to participate.
